Going to the toilet or is it the lavatory or the loo?
在这里要和大家讲的英语单词，恐怕在老师那里学不到，甚至在书本上也难找到。因为即使是老外，说到自己的身体和从身体排出的东西时也难免难为情。但实际上这些都是生活当中的常用语，你不仅应该了解它们的含义和如何使用它们，而且还应该知道在哪些场合避免使用这些词语！

（以下以英国英语为准）

洗手间里的器具名称(English for plumbers)

press the handle 按下把手冲水,如果是拉绳那种则是 pull the train

lift/put down the lid/seat 掀起(放下)马桶盖(座垫)

If the pan is full and won't empty, it's blocked 马桶堵啦！

If you can't flush the cistern it doesn't work 如果冲不了水，好臭啊！

bidet 坐浴盆，但传说英国人用它来洗脚
chamber pot (pot)
痰盂、便盆、尿壶。以前中国老百姓家里很常见，一般都摆在床下，搪瓷做的。 小孩用的叫potty.

commode 带椅子的便盆，供病人和老人用
厕所该怎么说？

the toilet 正规，对陌生人使用
the loo 在家里和朋友之间用。
the lavatory 过时的说法。
半官方的语气： "Do not use the lavatory while the train is standing in the station."

the lav 儿童用语
据社会学家调查，上流社会多用lavatory, 中产阶级用toilet，两种人都用loo。但没有人知道下层劳动者用什么词汇，也许对于穷人来说，在家里有一间带马桶的厕所也是奢望。

WC (water closet) 只能对水管工人、建筑工人和建筑师说
the bogs 这是学校里的男孩（大概比较调皮）和那些没教养的人说的
the heads 小船或者军舰上的厕所
the shithouse 这也是没教养的人说的
the privy 户外的厕所。很老的说法了，Shakespeare天天说的,但现在用就不好了。有教养的女士叫它smallest room 或者the powder room
最有意思的词是在英帝国时代的—the Thunder Box.

如果你在外观光或者购物时，尿急了想方便一下，最好找写着PUBLIC CONVENIENCES的牌子。

在机场、火车站或者汽车站会有TOILETS的标志。在些老式的公共场合，你会看到LADIES和GENTS (gentlemen)的牌子。

有些人—通常是老人、有礼貌的女士，不用上面这些词，他们这样说：

I'm just going to wash my hands.

I have to powder my nose.

不管是男是女，一个流行的说法就是：

I'm going to spend a penny.

当然，自从上公共厕所要花钱了，才有这种说法。

作为英语老师，都希望学生们谈吐优雅，所以在教室里、考试的时候你应该记得这样说：

Excuse me. Can I go to the toilet (loo), please?

如果你在别人的家里或者办公室：

Can I use your loo (toilet), please?

如果你不知道厕所在哪里：Where's the loo (toilet)?

在大街上：Excuse me. Is there a public toilet (not loo) round here, please?

前置词

You are in the loo/toilet —in 意味着你在里面

on the loo/toilet — on意味着你实际上已经就座了

Men stand in front of a loo/toilet to pee — 千万要in front of，否则就是随地小便了。

 
俗话说人有三急,这第一急就是The wet stuff.在英文里一般就做叫pee或者urine .
要小便的说法:
to pee, have a pee 在家里或者朋友中使用
to piddle 老式说法,不要用
to wee wee (or wee) 小孩才这么说
to take a leak 中年男人说的
to see a man about a dog 老人、男人(经常是老师)说的
to urinate 医学术语,对医生可以这么说
to do number ones 年龄较小的儿童说的 (这和我们说的"三急之第一急"吻合了)
to piss 一个男人对另一个男人说的,小心用!
piss off 一句侮辱人的话,意思是说我不喜欢你,滚开!通常是男人之间的用于.如果你打不过他又跑得不快,最好别说!
to be pissed of 主要是男人们说的,意思和fed up(厌烦)、annoyed(苦恼)相同.
Why doesn't it stop raining?

I'm pissed off with this weather.

I'm getting pissed off with your always playing the same CD.
注意: 只有向你的朋友抱怨时才可以用.

to be pissed 通常是男人对他的朋友们说,意思是喝酒醉了
God, you were pissed last night, weren't you?

三急之第二急 - The brown stuff
大便的说法:

excrement and faeces 两种都是科学上的描述性名词. 而动词to defecate 指的是排便的动作;to excrete是指从身体中排除废物:urine, excrement, sweat(汗) 和 pus(脓).
stools 一个很有用的医学名词.看病的时候,可能会碰上医生要取你的大便样(to take a sample of your stools)进行检查.
a turd
条状的大便.也是用来骂人的话,不常用.最好是学会就忘掉吧!

pass a motion 这是政客们的用语
shit 这个动词的变化是不规则的:shit, shat, shat 小心用这个词!第一,只有男人才说,女人很少用(虽然在电影上经常见到女人也说);第二,只在比较熟的人中间使用,不要对陌生人说!
crap 很旧的说法.年青人对朋友说的
shit和crap通常用来指一些不好的东西:
The film/meal/holiday/weather/drive etc was shit.

Isn't it shitty weather?

Don't talk crap.

He talked a load of shit.

His mouth is full of shit.

I drank too much last night. I feel like shit this morning." 这里不用crap

Shit! I've turned off the computer and forgotten to save the file." 这里不用crap

注意只在朋友(主要是男人)间使用这些词.最好的办法是,当别人说这些词了,你再开始用,如果陌生人,特别是女人加进来,就要避免使用.

在医院里
在英国,医生一般用特殊的名词来称呼这些身体的废物.如果他们谈起你的泌尿系统,会用urine, kidneys(肾)或者bladder(膀胱)这些词. 如果你这部分没有什么问题,他们可能会谈到你的tummy(胃,肚子),bowels(肠,内脏)或intestines(肠).

也许你passing a motion或者urinating时,感到痛或者遇到困难,医生可能会要取些样去化验一下,他会叫你pee into a small dish 或者provide him with a stool.

to defecate 是排泄的医学词汇(What comes out are stools)

如果你不停地上厕所, 那你是患了腹泻 diarrhoea[die/or/ea] - you've got diarrhoea

腹泻的说法还有:

如果你排泄有困难,那你是便秘了If you can't start you are constipated or have got constipation. ?

对医生可以这么说: "I've got diarrhoea/constipation."

在药店里可以这么问: "Have you got anything for diarrhoea/constipation, please?" ?

Haemorrhoids [hem/or/oids] - 痔疮 在对家里人可以称之为piles. ?

在药店里买药: "Have you got anything for haemorrhoids, please?"
